Mr. Ban Ki-moon

Not long ago, I had a chance to listen to a lecture from former UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon.
Mr. Ban currently serves as the chairman of the National Council on Climate and Air Quality (NCCA) to resolve the nation’s air pollution.
And he talked on the topics of sustainable development goals and climate change.
The place was crowded with people.
I was standing for more than an hour because I could not find any empty seats.
There I was able to feel a certain passion in his life devoted to the world in the past 10 years.

In the 21st century, our world is still sick.
There are 68 million refugees wandering from their homes, war, poverty, and discrimination are still ongoing everywhere.
His worries and efforts for a better future seem to tell me all about who he is.

They are sincere and hardworking.
They have a lot of passion but lack compassion for others.
Let’s make a world where everyone can live well together, not just yourself alone.
Although we come from different countries, different races, and religions, we must learn how to live together as global citizens across boundaries.

Compassion(온정)
Com(다함께) + Passion(열정), when the word passion comes with the prefix com, which means together or all, it becomes compassion, which means warm passion.
It is a word for considering others.
A person who cares for others than a person who only works hard, is he not a true leader?
