The end of polio and its vaccine

- Beautiful Mind of Dr. Salk

Children in rehabilitation treatment

Polio is an infectious disease in which children's limbs are paralyzed.
When infected with poliovirus, the virus inflames the spinal cord and nervous system and limbs paralyze as result.
Before the vaccine was developed, 2000 children in Korea and tens of thousands of children in the United States suffered from polio.
This terrifying disease used to destroy many children's life

Nowadays the vaccinations have made polio a disease of the past.
Polio is now almost eradicated by a vaccine developed by Dr. Jonas Salk in 1955.
However, if it were not Dr. Salk's love for humanity, the development of the remedy itself does not mean everyone's benefit.
This is because numerous pharmaceutical companies have tried to buy and monopolize patents.
But Dr. Salk gave up his patent right and made it a common asset of mankind.

Could you patent the sun?

That is why the vaccine was supplied with just one penny, and the entire human race was immunized against polio.

Mind changes the world.
Even though some people would think giving out is a loss, Dr. Salk chose everyone's happiness instead of money.
He handed out vaccine patents to everyone just like the sun does.
The world is transformed into a more beautiful place by people with beautiful minds.
